Life Coach for Burnout
Not looking forward to tomorrow. Again.
I know that one from the inside. My last engineering job, I wasn't burned out the way the articles describe it. Nothing collapsed. I just stopped caring. I watched the clock. I got through the day so the day would be over, and the next morning it started again.
Nobody calls that burnout. Everybody calls it "just a rough quarter." That's why it runs for years.
I've had this conversation about 250 times
I coach strangers on the street. Farmers markets, Whole Foods, a sign and one question. The people who stop are so often the same person: capable, employed, exhausted. Not broken — running on the wrong fuel. People-pleasing. Perfectionism. The need to prove themselves one more time.
The exhaustion is real. The cause runs deeper than the workload.
Why not just rest? Why not a therapist?
Rest fixes tiredness. It doesn't fix the pattern that made you this tired, which is why the heaviness comes back three weeks after every vacation.
A therapist can be exactly right for what you're carrying, and if that's the case, I'll tell you so in the first call. But most therapists have never sat in a sprint planning or felt what the corporate grind does to someone who used to love building things. I have. I trained as an engineer and spent years in Silicon Valley companies before this.
Burnout is a system output. We don't manage the symptom. We find the loop that keeps producing it.
Who I work with
Engineers and engineering managers, mostly. The person I usually meet: ships on time, gets strong reviews, hasn't taken a real vacation in two years. Opens the laptop Sunday night "just to get ahead." Can't remember the last time work felt like anything.
I keep my client roster small — a handful of people at a time, because this work doesn't scale.
In person in Palo Alto and Menlo Park, or online.
Burnout is a signal, not a sentence.
If you're ready to look at what's underneath it, book the call. Thirty minutes. You'll know if this is right for you. So will I.

Questions people ask
What happens in the free call?
Thirty minutes, no script, no pitch. You tell me what's going on, I tell you what pattern I hear, and we both decide whether working together makes sense. If it doesn't, you'll still leave with something useful.
Do we meet in person or online?
Both. In person in Menlo Park and Palo Alto, online everywhere else. About half my clients I've never met in person and it works just as well.
Is this only for people in tech?
No, but that's who mostly finds me. I'm Steffen Moessner, a life coach based in Menlo Park, California, and most of my clients are engineers and tech professionals across Silicon Valley. If your burnout comes from somewhere else — medicine, law, running a family business — the patterns underneath look remarkably similar.

I had a few really insightful conversations with Steffen about how childhood and education influence us later in life. It highlighted how much we, as parents, shape our kids by the example we set. He brings clarity in a very natural way.

Steffen helped me think about how to pursue a meaningful career, how to be both valuable and irreplaceable in the workplace, and when it makes sense to plan an exit. We also explored the deeper question of finding meaning in life.
